Dubuque, Ia. – Five Storm players scored, Eric Dop made 20 saves and the Tri-City Storm opened the weekend with a 5-1 victory against the Dubuque Fighting Saints Friday at the Mystique Community Ice Center.
Joseph Campolieto, Linus Weissbach, Adam Goodsir, Wyatt Bongiovanni and Joey Matthews scored. Bryan Yoon (2a) had his second multi-point game.
Tri-City jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third period; with Dubuque looking for momentum, Head Coach Jason Lammers removed goalie Evan Fear for an extra attacker multiple times in the third. Bongiovanni scored an empty-net goal with 14 minutes remaining. Matthews also scored an empty-net tally with about five minutes left for the Storm’s fifth goal.
The Storm took a season-high 38 penalty minutes and squads combined for 80 PIMs.
Jaxon Castor made 15 saves in defeat. Evan Fear replaced Castor for the third and did not make save, but the Storm scored twice into the open cage.
Tri-City has one more game at Dubuque Saturday at 7:05 p.m. before it enjoys an 11-day USHL holiday break.
